Waconia Cares Project
In the fourth quarter of every year, Auxiliary Unit 150 spearheads an effort to pack and ship care packages to our deployed active-duty military for the Christmas Holiday. Each care package contains approximately $75 worth of food and other supplies either donated or purchased with fundraising dollars. On an average year approximately 300 packages are shipped all over the world, and Auxiliary Unit 150 makes a special effort to identify deployed active-duty military from Minnesota. The object of this annual effort is simple. It is a small gesture during the holiday season to thank our military personnel for the sacrifices they and their families make for our country.
The success of the project dependent on the support of area businesses and local community service organizations like the Waconia Lions Club who help pay for shipping costs via their Military Mailing Program. It also takes community involvement! If you want to support this effort, Auxiliary Unit 150 encourages you to get involved by either making a donation or submitting a the name and address (APO or FPO) for a deserving deployed active-duty military personnel.
