Memorial Day Services

Each Memorial Day, American Legion Post 150 and VFW Post 5462 pay tribute to those who fought and died in battle for our great country. This year Memorial Day falls on May 26th. The day to honor the fallen begins with the Color Guard conducting cemetery services per the following schedule:

7:15 AM = Color Guard Repots To American Legion Post 150

8:00 AM = Faith Lutheran Cemetery

8:25 AM = Scandia Swedish Cemetery

8:45 AM = Waconia Public Cemetery

8:50 AM = Trinity Lutheran Cemetery

9:20 AM = Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery

9:35 AM = Lake Auburn Moravian Cemetery

9:50 AM = Saint Victoria Catholic Cemetery

10:15 AM = Zoar Moravian Cemetery

The Color Guard returns to Waconia to participate in a parade starting at 10:45 AM.   The parade begins at the intersection of South Vine Street & West Main Street and ends at City Square Park.  American Legion Post 150 and VFW Post 5462 will then host a formal Memorial Day Service in City Square Park starting at 11:00 AM.  The services will feature the following:   

Music by the Waconia High School Marching Band

Voice Of Democracy Speech – “Is America Today Our Forefather’s Vision”

Keynote Speaker Major Juan Perez Of The Minnesota Army National Guard

“Remember & Honor” Program By American Legion Post 150

Color Guard Salute To The Fallen

After the formal ceremony has concluded, the community is invited to a free picnic at the American Legion Post 150 club located at 4 East Main Street.  The picnic includes hot dogs with all the fixings, potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans, potato chips, pickle spears, and lemonade!  Free will donations to support the mission of the American Legion will be accepted during the picnic!
